Ludlow is a thriving market town boasting around 500 listed buildings. The centre of the town is an amazing concentration of architectural heritage including, Ludlow Castle, which is now a Grade I listed historic monument, proudly standing on a cliff overlooking the River Teme.

There are also nearly 500 listed buildings in the town as well as the local market and an impressive number of independent specialist food shops: three butchers, four bakers, a cheese shop, chocolate shop, delicatessen, whole food shops, organic food shops... all selling products of the highest quality, much of which is sourced locally. Ludlow Food Centre is a fantastic shopping experience and 50% of their products are made on the premisis.

13th - 14th May 2017 Ludlow Spring Festival
A weekend of music and good food. Celebrating great local beers, bangers, bread - and much more!

17th June - 2nd July 2017 Ludlow Fringe Festival
Ludlow Fringe is a new festival for an old town, a joyful celebration of the arts for everyone. It’s a showcase for artists from every genre. Over 150 music, comedy and arts events taking place in venues across Ludlow.

9th July 2017 Ludlow Green Festival
Ludlow Green Festival programme includes walks, talks, workshops and tours, and incorporates the Green Fair. For youngsters, the Festival offers fun family activities and a craft workshop.

8th -10th September 2017 Ludlow Food Festival
It hosts over 160 food and drink exhibitors from across Ludlow and the Marches; offers free talks and demonstrations throughout the weekend from top chefs, artisan producers and food experts on our 2 stages together with children's entertainment and the infamous sausage, ale and bread trails.

25th - 26th November 2017 Ludlow Medieval Christmas Fayre
The festival is based in and around the castle. Ludlow Medieval Christmas Fayre is an evocative reconstruction of Christmas past, with plenty of inspired stalls to help you find presents from independent purveyors of a whole host of goods, with a particular emphasis on crafts and foods.

Ludlow Markets held on Mon, Weds, Fri and Sat
Ludlow Produce Market is held on the second and fourth Thursday of the Month.
Also most Sundays there is a Flea Market or other specialist market.

Sporting activities:

Ludlow and the surrounding countryside is very popular with walkers. Just half a mile away is Mortimer Forest, where there are 5 walking loops/trails ranging from 1 1/2 to 9 miles. If you are interested in something a bit longer then you could try Mortimers Trail, The Shropshire Way or Offa's Dyke.

For golfing enthusiasts, apart from in your garden there are a number of golf courses - Ludlow, Kington (the highest 18 hole golf course in England), Leominster.

Other sports include Ludlow Race course, riding and fishing.

There are numerous National Trust and English Heritage attractions in the area.

Slightly furthur afield is Hereford Cathedral and Mappa Mundi. Great fun for kids of all ages, Ironbridge offers an Indutrial Revolution exerience with its multitude of museums. The West Midlands Safari Park has a large theme park on site and the Severn Valley Railway steam train journeys are magical.


Ludlow has deservedly earned its reputation for serving some of the best food and drink in the country.

There are 7 restaurants in and around Ludlow listed in the Michelin Guide to hotels and restaurants. There are also one with a much coveted Michelin Star Mr Underhills or you could try some fine dining at La Becasse. One of our favourites is The Green Cafe at Dinham Weir and we also love the Tapas at The Parkway. There are also many excellent Gastro-Pubs such as the The Charlton Arms located on Ludford Bridge in Ludlow and The Clive located on the edge of Ludlow. Tried and tested local services:

The Quarry Farm Shop - approx 4 miles from The Manor House. This small family run shop has a great range and fantastic meat. They also sell fresh dairy goods, pies, home-cooked ready meals, cold meats, seasonal vegetables, preserves and more! Can arrange breakfast boxes and BBQ packs.

Catering - Melissa Rees from Milly's Menus will come and cook for you in the Manor House. Melissa will cook for you, serve you and clear up! Perfect! Her website has some example menus (which look amazing) but Melissa loves to vary her menus drawing on her knowledge of the changing seasons and the best produce available at the time of the event.

Mobile Beautician - Local beautician Rhian Waters will come out to the Manor House and offers a range of pampering services: Waxing
Tinting, Make up, Tanning, Manicures, Pedicures, Facials, Swedish Massage and Hot Stone Massage. Her contact numbers are 01568 780485 or 07881 290080.
